License Usage and How to Update the License in an Existing Project

Question: How to add/update the existing project license with an updated version of Chart4.NET dll?

Answer: You need to add a reference to the dll in your project and open the form in design view in visual studio:

1) Adding the License (New Project)

See how to add the control to toolbox and drop to a form.

2) Update the License (Existing Project)

1 - Find and DELETE the licenses.licx file from the Properties folder in Solution Explorer in Visual Studio.

2 - Find the the location of the existing dll referenced in the project. You can see the file location in Properties Window, by selecting the reference in References folder in Solution Explorer.

3 - Either REPLACE the dll at that location, or change the reference to the NEW dll at a different location.

4 - Now open the form (DESIGN VIEW) on which you had placed the control in Visual Studio. You can see that a new licx file is now inserted in Properties folder.

5 - Compile and run the application.

N.B: If you have a VB.NET project, you may have to remove the licx file from Windows Explorer.

Note 1: If you are using a demo license, that is downloaded sometime before, download the latest demo samples.

Note 2: If you want to use the control in a fresh project, see how to add the control to toolbox and drop to a form.

Note 3: If you drag and drop a control from toolbox, the corresponding dll will be added to References. So chances are there that you reference an unintended dll (in case of an update). So check the file file location of the dll reference as described above, to make sure that the same intended dll is referenced.

Note 4: In case, you still have the 'invalid license' issue, try after removing the item from toolbox, and add the control to toolbox and drop to a form.

Note 5: If that doesn't succeed, please try in a fresh project as mentioned in 1. If that too doesn't succeed, the license is invalid. Please contact us.
